Safaricom Kenya's CEO Bob Collymore dies of cancer


Kenyans have taken to web based life to praise Safaricom's Chief Executive Officer Robert William Collymore, who the organization said kicked the bucket following an about two-year long fight with malignancy.


“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing away of Robert (Bob) William Collymore, CEO of Safaricom Plc, which occurred at his home in the morning of 1st July 2019,” the firm said in a statement.


In May, Collymore, 61, had said he would remain in his situation for an additional year. He was set to venture down in August following nine years in charge, during which time Safaricom's offer value ascended by over 400%.


As of late, his condition declined and he capitulated to the malignant growth at his home in the early long stretches of Monday.


The arrangement of his successor was postponed as the Kenyan government, which possesses 35% of the organization, has demanded that a neighborhood is picked to succeed him.


Collymore had made a trip to Britain in October 2017 and got treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and he had since been experiencing treatment for a similar condition, the organization said.


"Lately, his condition compounded and he surrendered to the disease at his home in the early long stretches of Monday… ," it included.
