Nigeria High Commission laments ‘xenophobic attacks’ with regards to nigerians in crime reportage

The Nigerian High Commission in Ghana is angry with the idea of reportage of wrongdoings including Nigerians which it says shows some type of xenophobia.

In the announcement, Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Micheal Olufemi Abikoye, references reports including Nigerians and crime; including the ongoing seizing of two Canadians in Kumasi.

The inclusion of Nigerians in prominent violations as of late is seen as causing some disdain for Nigerians in Ghana.

in a statement by the commissioner

“The Ghanaian Press, both print and electronic as well as social media seems to have enjoyed a field day in demonising Nigeria which for all intent and purposes, is seen as a fraternal brother to Ghana,”

“The ongoing media trial of criminals which was now being turned into a media trial of Nigeria as a country, calls for moderation on the part of media practitioners in Ghana.
