Juelz Santana's new #FREESANTANA mixtape. The rapper gives the Harlem local sufficient space to show his range of abilities in the wake of being in the rap game for more than two decades.
At 38, Juelz Santana doesn't need to rap. #FREESANTANA demonstrates that his enthusiasm is still there with the perkiness of mid 2000s mixtape-period blend. He raps over examples of Drake's "God's Plan" on "Wish Me Well" and opens up over Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is". Juelz still enlists some hip-bounce heavyweights for good measure, with Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz exchanging punches on "Bubbling Water," a hard-hitting, mesmerizing circle that sees the trio return things to kitchens loaded with Pyrex.
Lil Wayne shows up later on in the tracklist, rapping over an accelerated example of 2Pac's "Hail Mary." It's a paring that hip-jump fans would've lost their psyches longer than 10 years prior
